| Silverhill Institute
The Silverhill Institute of Environmental Research and Conservation
was established as a charitable foundation in 2004. This foundation
was established according to the Canada Corporations Act.
The Silverhill Institute has 4 objectives:
- To support and carry out research on environmental issues of
the day. Specifically, to focus on applied research activity that
would have benefits for communities and their residents.
- To develop environmental and conservation materials for the
general public and use in school curriculum.
- To support wetland protection and restoration as means for conservation
and contributing to diversity and the protection of groundwater
and surface water resources.
- To support demonstration projects to develop, maintain and preserve
wood lots. This is seen as critical to contribute to diversity
and conservation.
The Silverhill Institute grants are available for graduate students
to provide assistance in carrying out applied research projects.
The intent is to provide funding for applied research
projects with a Canadian or North American focus being carried out at either the Masters or PhD levels.
The amount of the major grant is $3,500 and the first award was made
in May 2005; smaller awards of $500 are also available. |
